If you just browse checklists

Nothing about you is collected or sent anywhere. Your 1–5 ratings are saved in your browser’s local storage, on your device. Clear your browser data and they’re gone. There are no analytics trackers and no advertising.

If you join a class with a PIN

We store exactly three things about you:

• First name and last initial (e.g. “Priya S.”) — so your teacher knows whose ratings are whose.
• Your ratings — the 1–5 confidence numbers you tap, with timestamps.
• A random device token — a meaningless ID that lets this device reconnect to your ratings without an account.

We never ask for — and have nowhere to put — your date of birth, school, photos, or surname. Joining with a class PIN alone needs no email and no password at all. A Student account is entirely optional — see below for what that adds.

If you create a Student account

An account needs just an email address and a password — nothing else, and your teacher never sees either one. It means your ratings aren’t only on one device, and it lets you build your own personal study checklists that aren’t tied to any class.

Personal checklists you build for yourself are private by default. They become visible to a teacher only once you deliberately link that teacher’s class to your account — a separate step you confirm yourself — and only for as long as that link stays active. That includes checklists you’ve since archived: archiving is just organisation on your end, it doesn’t hide anything from a teacher you’re actively linked to. The moment you leave that class, no new rating on a personal checklist becomes visible to that teacher. But any checklist that already had at least one rating while you were linked stays visible to them afterwards, showing its current title and items — not a frozen copy from when you were linked. If you rename it or add to it later, they’ll see that too. They just never see a new rating on it. You can remove that visibility entirely, at any time, by permanently deleting the checklist yourself from its own page — that erases it, and everything a teacher could see of it, for good, with no undo (see “If you’re a teacher” below for how this looks from their side). Linking one teacher’s class never shares anything with any other teacher — each one needs their own separate active link to you before they can see anything, and any teacher you’ve never linked sees nothing at all.

You can delete your Student account at any time from Account settings. It’s suspended immediately; you can change your mind by signing back in and selecting Restore at any point before the account is actually, permanently erased — and that erasure is never eligible to happen before 30 days have passed. If your account is also a Teacher account, deleting your Teacher account is refused for as long as any Student role exists on it, pending deletion or not — contact us if you’d like that cleared sooner than the ordinary window.

If you’re a teacher

We store your email address (that’s your sign-in), an optional display name, your classes, and the checklists you create. Delete your whole account from Settings and everything attached to it — ratings included — is gone immediately and permanently, unless that account also holds a Student role: then nothing is deleted until the Student role is removed first. A class or student that already has saved work is handled differently: a class with students is archived, not erased, and a student with any ratings or history can’t be deleted outright — merging it into another record is the only way to remove the row, and merging keeps the ratings rather than erasing them. Only an empty, accidental join can be removed outright.

If an account Student unlinks from your class or leaves — or you archive the class — you never see a new rating from their personal checklists after that point. But for any checklist that already had at least one rating while they were linked, you keep seeing that checklist afterwards — including its current title and item list, not a frozen copy from when the link was active, so a rename or added items after they’ve left can still show up on your side. You’ll never see their account email or password, which we never had in the first place. They can also permanently delete a checklist themselves at any time; if they do, it disappears from your view entirely, with no way back. This is separate from their ordinary place in your class: their checklist ratings keep working the same as any other student’s unless you remove them or archive the class yourself.

Where the data lives

All data is stored with our database provider, Supabase. It is not sold, shared, or used for anything except showing teachers their own class’s confidence ratings.
